Skip to contentDance Valley would celebrate its 26th edition this year, but due to the corona situation, one of the Netherlands’ longest-running dance festivals will not be able to take place on its original date. The organization behind the festival is currently discussing the possibilities of moving the festival to September with the municipality of Velsen. In the meantime, the idea has arisen to revive an old tradition: the ‘flower shower’, on August 14th, the original date of the festival.
‘Every year until 2014, a helicopter would scatter over 100.000 flowers over the dancing crowd during the festival. A spectacular and special experience for the tens of thousands of visitors,’ explains the spokesperson of Dance Valley. He adds: ‘Since our audience has been waiting for so long to experience another edition of Dance Valley, it’s important to us to show support for our visitors, our team, our partners and everyone affected by corona in every way. With this old tradition, we also send a strong message to the world that we’re still here and that we will be returning to our holy ground in Spaarnwoude next year.
The artist who will support the ‘flower shower’ with an exclusive performance is the colorful DJ La Fuente: ‘It fits well with our vision and with what we do. Always nice to be a part of a solution! Of course, I was really looking forward to my performance on the mainstage of Dance Valley this year, but in this way we can do something special for all those people who are eager to dance in the valley again. I’m thrilled to be part of this project!”
La Fuente’s performance, including the ‘flower shower’, will be broadcast on Saturday, August 14th starting at 19:30 (GMT +1).
